Overview
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position with Cherokee Federal. This role requires an active Public Trust or the ability to obtain and maintain one, and US Citizenship.
Responsibilities- Accurately advise patients of their referral eligibility, beneficiary status, and health treatment options as outlined by TRICARE enrollment and/or DEERS status.
- Coordinate with military treatment facility (MTF) staff for all active, reserve, and guard referrals not covered under TRICARE for approval.
- Direct patients to the travel coordinator and provide information on travel-related benefits.
- Advise patients regarding Line-of-Duty, Personal Reliability Program (PRP), and Medical Evaluation Board issues as outlined in applicable AFIs, in conjunction with MTF personnel.
- Verify that appropriate paperwork is on file prior to authorization.
- Initiate, receive, and coordinate communication between beneficiaries, team members, internal staff and providers, network/outside providers and ancillary health care workers regarding specialty clinic appointments and referrals.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Professional license for LPN required.
- Knowledge of MHS Genesis preferred.
- Knowledge of military patient referrals preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
- Shall read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
- Knowledge, skills and computer literacy to interpret and apply medical care criteria (e.g., Inter Qual or Milliman guidelines).
- Minimum of two (2) years broad-based clinical nursing experience in inpatient or outpatient settings within the last three (3) years.
- License must be valid and unrestricted; in good standing with licensure boards in all jurisdictions where licensed in the last ten years.
- Operational computer skills with Word, Excel, Outlook, and general MS applications.
- Strong medical ethics, telephone etiquette, written/verbal/electronic communication, and customer service skills.
