Line Clearance Arborist – Apprentice

• Perform skilled power line tree clearance work supporting Provo City utility and street tree maintenance programs
• Climb trees using safety devices and harnesses
• Remove tree limbs and debris obstructing wires
• Assist with rigging maneuvers using ropes, blocks, slings, and related equipment
• Plant, water, spray, sweep, fertilize, prune, and anchor trees
• Cable, brace, tie, bolt, stake, and guy trees and branches
• Operate or assist with operating power tools, equipment, and vehicles
• Empty containers into trucks and receptacles
• Set out flags and cones for work-site safety
• Assist crew and staff members and perform related duties

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid, lawful Commercial Driver License
• Apprentice: one year of experience as a tree trimmer
• Line Clearance Arborist: two years of experience as a power line clearance tree trimmer
• Flagger Training Certification
• Apprentice: registration as a Tree Trimmer Apprentice (Line Clear) with the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship USA program
• Line Clearance Arborist: completion of a Tree Trimmer (Line Clear) program with the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship USA program
• Utah Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License preferred for Line Clearance Arborist
• Must successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check if selected for hire
• Equivalent combinations of job-related education and experience may be accepted, substituting one year of education/training for six months of experience

Demonstrates expertise in power line tree clearance, including climbing techniques, tree maintenance, and safe operation of power tools. Holds relevant certifications and licenses, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
