Position Summary

The Commercial Glazing Installation Lead supports the Foreman by directing day-to-day glazing activities and providing hands‑on installation expertise. This role coordinates small crews, organizes materials, ensures safe work practices, and maintains high‑quality standards for storefronts, doors, glass panels, and related hardware. The Installation Lead acts as the go‑to crew leader on tasks and steps in when the Foreman is unavailable but does not take on full project oversight responsibilities.

This position requires travel 100% of the time.

Employment Type:

Full‑Time, Hourly Compensation: $29‑$35/Hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team in the installation of commercial glazing systems under the direction of the Foreman or Project Manager.
  • Install aluminum storefronts, curtain wall framing, glass panels, doors, sidelites, and associated hardware according to shop drawings and specifications.
  • Perform precise measurements, layout, leveling, shimming, and alignment to ensure structural and aesthetic accuracy.
  • Assist in unloading and staging glass, framing, hardware, anchors, and materials needed for daily work.
  • Ensure proper handling and secure rigging of glass to prevent breakage or safety incidents.
  • Identify field conditions that require adjustment and communicate issues to the Foreman promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite work area.
  • Support the Foreman in coordinating with other trades to avoid conflicts and maintain workflow.
  • Mentor junior installers and coach them on proper glazing techniques, safety, and tool use.
  • Complete basic jobsite documentation, including time tracking, material needs, and progress updates.
  • Respond to service requests and complete warranty repairs or adjustments on installed glazing systems.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience in commercial glazing, aluminum storefronts, or related commercial construction.
  • Ability to interpret glazing shop drawings, elevations, details, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, glazing tools, and equipment (glass cups, lifts, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of commercial door hardware installation and adjustments.
  • Knowledge of safe glass handling procedures and fall‑protection practices.
  • Able to lift 100 lbs and work at heights, on lifts, and on active construction sites.
  • Strong communication skills and reliable work habits.
  • Valid driver’s license and consistent transportation to job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a lead installer or crew leadership role.
  • Familiarity with major glazing system manufacturers and hardware lines.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience using lifts, booms, and rigging equipment (certifications a plus).
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for doors, closures, locks, seals, anchors, and frame adjustments.
