Position Description

Dispatches Truck Drivers (CDL and Non-CDL), for conveyance of materials in a safe manner for Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay, ensuring emails and phone calls are handled in a timely manner. This role serves as the primary point of contact for drivers, ensuring efficient route coordination, issue resolution, and operational support to maintain safe and reliable service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and dispatches drivers for daily pickup, delivery, and transportation routes in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor driver schedules, route progress, and service completion to ensure on-time performance.
  • Provide drivers with route instructions, schedule updates, and operational support as needed.
  • Records and maintains files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.
  • Orders supplies and equipment, issuing them to Team Members.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized dock/yard space including but not limited to driving box trucks and forklifts as needed
  • Maintains the day-to-day operations of the transportation department including meeting Team Member and customer needs.
  • Reads and responds to emails from stores, providing excellent customer service.
  • Determines types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required according to work orders or specifications.
  • Communicates power equipment defects to the fleet Services Team.
  • Provides feedback to the Transportation Leaders on day-to-day operations in an effort to maintain and improve business and resolve problems.
  • Reports any hazardous conditions to all appropriate parties
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required
  • One year of customer service experience or dispatch experience required
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification within 3 months
  • Possession of valid Class C CA Driver License with a clean record.
  • Has a California DMV record that is no more than 30 days old
  • Must have a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that has no citation convictions (other than parking) within past 3 years.
  • Has a Department of Transportation medical card.
  • Must be able to read maps and communicate using GW issued radio or phone equipment.
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT drug test as a condition of employment.
  • Available to work weekends and early mornings.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and proven ability to interact effectively with diverse customer base.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently
  • Ability to pass a background check where applicable for position
