Position Summary
The position’s prime objective is to reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment reliability by implementing a predictive electrical maintenance program and planning, coordinating, scheduling, and supervising corrective maintenance projects assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities- Reducing maintenance costs.
- Improving equipment reliability through the implementation of a predictive maintenance program.
- Planning, coordinating, and supervising corrective maintenance projects assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Planning shutdown repairs and being responsible for the completion of capital projects.
- Directing the electrical maintenance activities done in the plant and quarry, including repair and adjustment of existing electrical equipment and installation of new equipment; providing daily assignments to electricians, inspecting work in progress, and completing daily time reporting.
- Additional responsibilities include problem‑solving and root cause analysis, component design, preparation of contract documents and scopes of work, coordination, scheduling of required work, supervision of contractors, and ordering of materials.
- Accomplishing periodic inspections of field instrumentation, wiring, calibration, equipment condition, and proper installation to ensure optimum operating performance; directing electrical maintenance on field instrumentation and replacement of defective parts.
- Directing calibration of instrumentation and control devices; testing systems for proper operation after repair, working from schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer’s instructions; preparing a maintenance schedule for all systems hardware per manufacturer’s instruction.
- Directing continued preventive/predictive maintenance inspections and procedures on electrical and electronic equipment.
- Attending coordination meetings and reviewing and assisting with all corrective/PM work orders.
- Ensuring the application of the company’s plant rules of conduct, health, and safety to personnel being supervised and applying recommended disciplinary action for violations.
- Preparing electrical maintenance and construction contracts.
- Planning, designing, coordinating, and scheduling specific corrective maintenance projects.
- Maintaining records of costs on all project work.
- Training and supporting plant personnel in the electrical preventive/predictive maintenance program.
- Participating in the plant on‑call program.
- Conducting/attending weekly safety meetings and inspecting the department for unsafe working conditions and signs of equipment breakdowns to reduce on‑the‑job injuries and eliminate lost‑time injuries.
- Continuing self‑improvement activities, especially in new developments in the electrical and electronics industry.
Must possess a minimum of a two‑year degree in engineering or related fields, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Experience5+ years in the electrical field.
Proficiencies and Knowledge- Proficient with reading blueprints and schematics.
- Computer skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word‑processing software.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to identify problems that arise and implement corrective measures.
