Role Overview

The Coil Builder (also known as Coil Lacer or Core Assembler) is responsible for assembling the core materials, including fins and tubes, into complete core assemblies for heat transfer coils. This role requires attention to detail and precision to ensure high‑quality production that meets design specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Read and comprehend engineering drawings, bills of material, and instructions.
  • Locate materials needed to assemble equipment.
  • Layout and assemble coils, ensuring they are squared and meet specific tolerances.
  • Perform MIG welding.
  • Check work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to team efforts by collaborating with others and performing related tasks as needed.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Follow government regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Work overtime as necessary.
  • Attend work as required and arrive on time.
  • Accurately log time into the time and attendance system for payroll and labor distribution.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions and work independently without constant supervision.
  • Care for tools and equipment and report any maintenance issues.
  • Clean the work area as required.
  • Perform fin measurements.
Desired Qualifications Education & Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is desired for upward advancement within the company. The employee must be able to understand instructions from supervisors.

Skills
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions.
  • Basic math skills, including reading a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding.
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to cooperate with others.
Certificates, Licenses, or Training

On‑site training will be provided.

Level/Grade
  • Beginning Level Coil Builder:
    Meets minimal quality standards, requires more time than estimated to complete tasks.
  • Proficient Level Coil Builder:
    Meets quality standards and completes work within estimated hours.
  • Advanced Level Coil Builder:
    Meets quality standards and completes work in less time than estimated.

Working Environment

The job is performed in a heavy industrial production area with constant exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Noise levels are usually high in some areas. The employee may also be exposed to extreme temperatures during both summer and winter. Meeting deadlines and product quality standards, as well as possible long hours, may cause stress.
