Stantec’s Colorado Construction Management Group is looking for a highly motivated Project Manager with strong heavy civil transportation construction experience. This role can be based anywhere in Colorado.
OverviewPrimary responsibility: monitor and report on the work being executed on site by the construction contractor(s) and their sub‑contractors to assist clients in ensuring execution in accordance with the construction contract.
The Project Manager oversees a team that typically includes project controls, construction inspectors, and administration staff.
May participate in pre‑construction activities (engineering, estimating, logistics, execution planning), advise clients on issues or risks, and provide remediation recommendations.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Provide construction management leadership to the project team in support of the client.
- Serve as Stantec’s lead employee on a contract providing CM oversight services to a government agency.
- Manage a diverse group of employees and subcontractors to execute a contract.
- Monitor and report on contractor work, including schedule, budget, technical specifications, and legal requirements.
- Provide Health and Safety Leadership and assist with development and implementation of project‑specific safety plan.
- Project manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Solve complex problems using professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Collaborate in project team settings, communicating ideas, design issues and solutions.
- Lead preparation and coordination of project deliverables and documents (reports, cost and schedule reporting, specification reviews, engineering documents).
- Review contractor requests for change and assist in preparation of change orders/modifications.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Primavera skills desirable.
- OSHA certification preferred.
- Technical expertise in relevant design and construction areas and understanding of various methods.
- Thorough knowledge of construction management practices, costs, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principles.
- Effective at building and maintaining client relationships.
- Understanding of legal design and construction requirements for public works contracts.
- Knowledge and interpretation of code compliance and industry standards.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field (non‑technical degree considered based on experience).
- Professional Engineer (PE) registered in Colorado required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 10 years’ experience in heavy civil transportation construction projects, including 5 years in leadership roles.
- Experience with Colorado Department of Transportation and/or local agency projects as Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer preferred.
Work involves an office environment and long‑term field assignments at construction sites.

- Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD and various CA, NJ areas: $ – $ Annually
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience and location.
