Job OverviewThe primary responsibility of the English Language Arts Teacher is to plan, organize, and implement an instructional program in a Middle School environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District policies and the teacher contract, maintaining a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement high-quality, standards‑based instruction using research‑based practices and Common Core standards.
- Prepare daily lesson plans and classroom materials that align with learning objectives and student outcomes.
- Establish clear classroom routines and procedures, manage student behavior, and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Use data from multiple sources to assess student progress, adapt instruction, and report results to stakeholders.
- Provide timely and accurate feedback to students, parents, and appropriate staff members.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, professional development, and district‑wide initiatives, including Innovation Zone activities.
- Model and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all instructional practices.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
- Engage in continuous professional growth, learning new instructional models, and evaluating technology integration.
- Colorado teaching license with endorsement in English Language Arts.
- 36 semester credit hours in content area and a passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (e.g., ETS Praxis Series).
- Eligibility for a Teacher in Residence or Alternative Licensing program in content area.
- Successful completion of a fingerprint‑based criminal background check and clearance by the Office of Human Resources.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience demonstrated by references, evaluations, and student growth data.
- Experience implementing foundational literacy instruction and comprehension strategies.
- Experience with Common Core State Standards and blended learning models.
- Experience with AVID, Teach Like a Champion, or STEM‑based educational practices.
- Experience in Title I or low‑income school settings.
- Deep understanding of Common Core standards and curriculum alignment.
- Ability to design learning objectives, outcomes, and assessments.
- Data‑driven decision making and instructional adaptation.
- Strong collaboration and participation in professional learning communities.
- Technology proficiency, including use of platforms such as Infinite Campus.
- Classroom management and differentiation strategies.
- Positive communication and relationship building with students, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, flexibility, and punctuality.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Variety of teaching techniques promoting achievement and student engagement.
- Application of research‑based instruction principles and student‑centered strategies.
- Preparation and organization of instructional materials and classroom environment.
- Clear communication of learning objectives and grading standards to students and parents.
- Model integrity, fairness, and appropriateness in interactions with all stakeholders.

- Management of classroom behavior and enforcement of school disciplinary systems.
- Participation in school and district meetings.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by Building Administrators.
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands to operate technology.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of materials up to 40 lbs.
- Other tasks include reaching, bending, and repetitive hand use.
The position is located primarily in a school/office environment with natural and fluorescent lighting. The work requires frequent communication, intermittent interruptions, and high‑level engagement with students, parents, and staff.
