Summary of Functions

The primary responsibility of the STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Teacher is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The Teacher performs instructional duties in accordance with District policies and the teacher contract. The Teacher maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students, and develops and delivers engaging interdisciplinary instruction that integrates STREAM content through innovative, project‑based, and inquiry‑driven approaches.

The Teacher is a part of the elective wheel providing students with STREAM related project‑based experiences.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required, and reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days of hire.
  • Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, or Mathematics endorsement or Elementary Education endorsement.
  • Teacher must be highly qualified in the applicable content area through one of the following options:
  • Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license.
  • 36 semester credit hours applicable to content area - STREAM.
  • Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series).
  • Employee must complete a fingerprint‑based criminal background check and be cleared by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience in elementary education.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in integrated STREAM instruction, project‑based learning, or makerspace facilitation.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards in core subjects and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Familiarity with design thinking, engineering practices, or creative arts integration.
  • 3–5 years of successful teaching experience as demonstrated by references, evaluations, and student growth data.
  • Experience implementing effective literacy instruction including foundational skills and comprehension strategies.
  • Experience using Common Core State standards to plan instruction.
  • Experience with a blended learning model or a desire to learn.
  • Experience with AVID implementation or a desire to learn.
  • Experience in a Title I setting or low‑income setting.
  • Experience with Teach Like A Champion strategies.
  • Successful experience implementing strong classroom routines and procedures demonstrated by references and evaluations.
  • Experience with STEM‑based educational philosophy and instructional practices.
