Exempt Primary Function
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning serves as an instructional leader for the district and provides differentiated guidance, support, and supervision to principals by leveraging central office and financial resources to improve student achievement. The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning builds the capacity of principals to improve the conditions for learning and teaching.
The Assistant Superintendent oversees the allocation and monitoring of instructional resources and school-based budgeting. The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning designs, develops, and informs policies, standards, and vision at the district level. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for an aligned PK-12 instructional program that addresses state, local, and federal requirements to ensure academic achievement.

Required- Colorado Principal License within 60 days from date of hire
- Master's Degree in Education or related field
- Minimum of Eight (8) years of combined experience as a principal and in central administration roles that demonstrate a progressive increase in responsibilities
- Valid Colorado Driver License
- Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Demonstrated experience and success in leading turnaround and/or rapid school improvement reform
- Bilingual
- Written and oral communication with ability to communicate effectively in person, by email, or by phone to resolve issues related to areas of responsibility
- Knowledge of concepts and principles of PK-12 curriculum design, development, and evaluation
- Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to instructional and assessment programs
- Knowledge of practical application of adult learning principles
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Knowledge of the Colorado School Performance Framework and Accountability process
- Knowledge of the evaluation, assessment, accountability, and school improvement planning including the MTSS process
