As a member of the estimating team, the MEP Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating project MEP costs by preparing budgets for all Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection/Electrical/Technology/LV System (MEP) items from conceptual design through completed construction documents.
Responsibilities- Work with the team to provide constructability analyses, value engineering, cost control, scope reviews, etc.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to provide current pricing of plumbing fixtures, HVAC equipment, piping & sheet metal material, lighting, distribution equipment, low voltage systems, and miscellaneous material pricing.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with local Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection /Electrical /Technology/LV System (MEP) subcontractors to verify market conditions and labor issues.
- Develop and maintain current subcontractor and material costs within our estimating software.
- Minimum of five years related Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection /Electrical /Technology/LV System (MEP) estimating experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Experience in using electronic takeoff and estimating software.
- Proven written and verbal communication abilities, proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
Office functions will primarily be performed at PSI’s business office in Indianapolis, IN.
