Technical Principal

Role Overview

Voyager Technologies is a defense, national security and space technology company focused on delivering transformative, mission‑critical solutions. The Technical Principal I will provide expert‑level leadership in materials science and advanced manufacturing of energetics to grow market share, develop new products, and lead the technical execution of complex development programs.

• Lead engineering teams and manage technical execution across multiple chemical and energetics development and manufacturing programs.
• Maintain technology roadmaps, risk and mitigation plans, and serve as the lead technical reviewer in program reviews.
• Apply materials science and engineering expertise to evaluate propellant formulations, rocket motor designs, and energetics manufacturing plans, and develop new manufacturing tools, methods and capabilities.
• Develop and maintain executive, program management and technical relationships with government and industry customers; present technical solutions and lead discussions on program structures, costs and contracts.
• Lead white paper and proposal efforts, author and review technical documents, and mentor and develop technical personnel in advanced energetics and chemical manufacturing.

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials engineering, chemical engineering, or a related engineering discipline and 15+ years of experience; OR Master’s degree and 13+ years of experience; OR PhD and 10+ years of experience; OR 19+ years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree.
• 15+ years of experience developing novel manufacturing strategies for advanced solid propulsion, warhead and energetic material technologies.
• 10+ years of experience leading energetics research and development programs reported to a program of record or program office, and working with government agencies.
• Demonstrated excellence in mentoring junior staff, technical writing, verbal communication and presenting complex system capabilities to government sponsors and customers.

• Recognized as a solid rocket propellant and manufacturing expert by prime missile integrators.
• Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in chemistry, materials engineering or chemical engineering from an accredited institution.

• Up to 25% travel, possibly with overnight stays, to customer sites, industry conferences and program reviews.
• Must obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level and be a U.S. citizen.
• Must meet eligibility for applicable state and federal explosives licenses, comply with drug‑free workplace laws and pass required background investigations.
• Must also meet U.S. government export regulations and ITAR requirements.

• Base salary range: $215,000 – $235,000 (at time of posting).
