This is a full-time, on-site Solidworks or Inventor Designer role based in the Lafayette, LA or Colorado Springs, CO area.

The designer will create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor, ensuring designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with project requirements. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with engineers to refine concepts, performing design changes and updates, and preparing complete drawing packages with appropriate tolerances and documentation. The role involves supporting engineering analysis (such as FEA setup assistance), incorporating feedback from manufacturing and clients, and maintaining organized CAD files and revision control.
The designer will work closely with cross-functional team members and clients to clarify design intent, meet deadlines, and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
5-10 years
- in 3D CAD modeling and drafting using Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor in a team setting; familiarity with other CAD tools (e.g., Creo) is a plus.
- Experience creating detailed 2D drawings, assemblies, and BOMs with proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and adherence to drafting standards.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals, manufacturability, mechanical design practices, and basic FEA or engineering analysis workflows.
- Ability to interpret engineering requirements, technical specifications, and customer inputs to produce accurate, production-ready designs.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work closely with engineers, vendors and manufacturing teams.
- Solid organizational skills, including file management, revision control, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. (You don’t need a degree, you just need to be good at what you do)
- Experience in any of the following industries is beneficial: aerospace, energy and industrial, defense, medical devices and life sciences, or consumer products.
- Willingness to work on-site and adapt to continually evolving project requirements and priorities.
