Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead product and process quality efforts within an energetics manufacturing environment, including explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, or related energetic materials. This role takes ownership of complex quality initiatives, provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, and drives continuous improvement across manufacturing and inspection processes. The position requires deep technical expertise, sound judgment, documentation discipline, and a high level of safety awareness, and is critical to ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of products manufactured in an energetics environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems in compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., ATF, DoD, OSHA).
  • Provide technical leadership to manufacturing operations, ensuring process controls, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria are robust, well-defined, and followed.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts for complex nonconformances, defects, and customer complaints.
  • Own the review and approval of manufacturing procedures, inspection instructions, and quality records related to energetics production.
  • Lead internal audits and represent Quality during external audits (customer, regulatory, and certification).
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify systemic trends and drive strategic continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and associate quality engineers, reviewing their work and supporting their development.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS, and Supply Chain to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Lead failure investigations, material review boards (MRB), and risk assessments (e.g., FMEA), and present findings to technical and cross-functional audiences.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, security, and handling requirements for energetic materials, and champion a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the quality organization and lead technical discussions with cross-functional leaders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline).
  • 7+ years of quality engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, including demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Deep working knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methods, and statistical techniques.
  • Proven expertise applying root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, SPC) to complex, high-consequence problems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and executive audiences.
