Project Engineer - Construction
Voyager is an innovative space, defense, and national security technology company committed to advancing and delivering transformative, mission-critical solutions. We tackle the most complex challenges to unlock new frontiers for human progress, fortify national security, and protect critical assets to lead in the race for technological and operational superiority from ground to space.
The Project Engineer position will be located onsite in Pueblo, CO and reports to the Mission Infrastructure Engineering Manager. This role serves as the critical bridge between program and project requirements and physical execution — translating complex technical and operational requirements into actionable Statements of Work and building plans, then driving those plans from conception through completion. With a strong foundation in construction engineering and project controls, this individual owns project schedules, tracks equipment and materials, and develops program-specific building plans that keep Voyager's manufacturing facilities ready for what's next.
Embedded within the Manufacturing Engineering team, this role also serves as an informed voice in shaping future facility investments — contributing construction and project controls expertise to advanced manufacturing initiatives, capability expansion programs, and the broader infrastructure roadmap that underpins Voyager's mission.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Translate program and project requirements into clearly scoped Statements of Work (SOWs), defining deliverables, responsibilities, timelines, and acceptance criteria for construction and facility projects.
- Develop program-specific building plans that align facility infrastructure with operational and manufacturing requirements, coordinating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Safety stakeholders.
- Build, maintain, and actively drive project schedules — identifying critical path activities, tracking milestones, flagging risks, and ensuring on-time delivery across concurrent projects.
- Track and manage equipment procurement, delivery, and installation status, maintaining accurate logs and communicating proactively with project teams and leadership.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews to ensure scope, schedule, and quality requirements are understood and met.
- Maintain complete project documentation including submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, change orders, and progress reports.
- Support procurement and contract administration processes, reviewing bids and scopes against program requirements.
- Attend site walks, owner meetings, and project coordination calls, serving as a reliable point of contact for project status and technical clarifications.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering leadership to inform future facility investments — contributing project controls insight and lessons learned to advanced manufacturing buildouts, energetic operations facility upgrades, automated production line installations, test stand infrastructure, and capability expansion projects driven by evolving program and DoD requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 3 years of experience in construction project engineering or a related field OR 7 years of hands-on construction or project engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience translating technical or operational requirements into Statements of Work, scopes of work, or building plans in a construction or industrial setting.
- Proven ability to build and manage project schedules, track deliverables, and drive accountability across subcontractors and internal teams.
- Experience tracking equipment procurement, delivery, and installation within a project controls or construction management context.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical requirements clearly to contractors, engineers, and leadership stakeholders.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
- Strong self-starter…
