The Cad Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Rio Grande County, CO. This role involves preparing detailed CAD drawings and models from engineer and designer sketches, specifications, and field data. The Cad Technician will update and revise existing plans, ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with company standards, and organize project files and documentation. Daily work includes coordinating with engineers, attending project meetings as needed, and supporting design changes with timely drawing updates.
The role also requires performing basic calculations, reviewing drawings for completeness, and assisting with printing, plotting, and document delivery for project submittals.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) and ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings.
- Knowledge of engineering or construction drawing standards, dimensioning practices, and basic drafting principles.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and project files.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers in an on-site environment.
- Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts; prior experience in an engineering, surveying, or construction office is beneficial.
- Ability to interpret sketches, field notes, and specifications to create and update drawings with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and comfort working with digital document management systems.
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent training in drafting, CAD technology, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
