About The Role
The Commercial Loan Assistant requires a high level of knowledge of commercial loans and documentation, as well as the ability to review and prepare commercial loan closings, effectively communicate with customers, vendors, lenders, and co-workers to provide a variety of administrative duties. Carry out basic accounting functions. Employee will have extensive contact with customers, vendors, the general public, and bank staff and will interact in a professional and courteous manner that enhances the overall efficiency and image of the bank.
Starting salary range: $23.50–$25.50 per hour, determined by geographic location, experience, and education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist commercial loan officer with new loan applicants. Requires expert knowledge of nCino. Collect and organize initial documentation needed for loan decisions, such as credit bureau reports, OFAC, lien searches, tax notices, appraisals, and title commitments. Initiate and build loan relationships within nCino.
- Assist account officer in preparing loan worksheets, ensuring accurate information and assisting through the approval process.
- Prepare documents for commercial loans, including Laser Pro documentation, government program packages for closings, ensuring documents are complete and accurate.
- Prepare signed loan documents for boarding and disbursing funds.
- Assist lender with loan closings and be prepared to close loans. Follow up with customers after all loan closings as needed.
- Stay current on lending programs, regulations, procedures, and documentation, and serve as a knowledgeable resource to lenders.
- Assist with regular portfolio and file maintenance, including annual financial and insurance requests and managing collateral exceptions.
- Assist customers, in person or over the phone, with loan servicing questions, portfolio maintenance, and credits/debits to all accounts/loans.
- Assist lender with portfolio maintenance reports, scheduling, arranging customer calls, and preparing information for bank meetings.
- Assist lender with customer relationship management by handling service requests, performing customer visits, and attending community events.
- Assist Commercial Loan Operations Supervisor to meet commercial loan quality control goals set by management. Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate prior to closing. Recommend implementation of best practices, including file and regulatory procedural reviews.
- Place documents in the correct nCino placeholder following established procedures and checklists.
- Maintain a professional image, representing the bank positively. Treat all customer information as confidential. Adhere to bank guidelines, policies, and procedures. Prioritize attendance and punctuality.
- Interact calmly and professionally with diverse individuals at various levels within and outside the organization.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Banking Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Adhere to Bank of the San Juans Company Core Values.
- Keep management appropriately informed of area activities and any significant problems.
- Participate in community service and bank-sponsored activities supporting the mission and values of the Bank of the San Juans.
- Provide superior internal and external customer service, demonstrating self-governance, courtesy, and respect toward all customers.
- Complete required bank and BVS training courses within assigned time frames.
- Represent the bank in a professional manner, maintaining confidentiality and a positive attitude, with good attendance, punctuality, flexibility, and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs. Keep work area tidy and safeguard customer privacy. Attend required meetings.

- A high school degree or GED is required. A two‑year degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is preferred.
