Student Financial Services Counselor

Help students make sense of one of the most important, and sometimes most overwhelming, parts of their college experience.

Colorado State University Pueblo is seeking a Student Financial Services Counselor to help current and prospective students and their families navigate financial aid, understand their options, and make informed decisions about financing their education.

This is a highly student-facing role for someone who enjoys helping people, solving problems, explaining complex information in an approachable way, and working across multiple areas of a university. In addition to financial aid counseling and application processing, this position supervises student employees, participates in recruitment and outreach throughout southern Colorado, delivers presentations and financial literacy education, and helps ensure students have access to clear and accurate financial aid information.

You do not need to spend your entire career in financial aid to be successful in this position. If you have strong customer service skills, enjoy working with students and families, are comfortable learning detailed regulations and systems, and can communicate complicated information clearly, we encourage you to apply.

Salary: $42,000 to $45,000

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree conferred by the position start date.
  • Experience providing tactful, efficient, and customer-focused service.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Willingness and ability to work the University's normal hours of operation as well as occasional evening or weekend hours when business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience related to financial aid, student financial services, or debt management.
  • Experience working in higher education or financial aid.
  • Experience appropriately handling confidential or highly sensitive student and family financial information.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations.
  • Experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences reflective of CSU Pueblo's student population.
  • Experience in credit counseling or financial education.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and is an on-site, in person position.

Applicants must attach the following documents, in order to be considered for this position:

  • a letter of intent (cover letter) describing the means in which you meet the qualifications for this position
  • unofficial or official transcripts showing required degree(s) conferred

Applications submitted through NEOGOV will not be accepted. All application materials must be submitted through the linked external posting site.

Final date to receive applications:
Open until filled, all applications received by September 8th, 2026 will receive full consideration.
