As a Senior Systems Engineer at Istonish, you’ll be part of a collaborative IT Engineering/Support team responsible for both internal systems and a diverse client environment. In this role, you’ll handle advanced support escalations, respond to infrastructure alerts, and work hands‑on with a wide range of modern hardware and software solutions. You’ll partner closely with team members to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues—while enjoying a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same.
Whatwill you be doing?
- Design and implement enterprise-level infrastructure solutions for multi‑client managed services environment, including cloud migrations and hybrid deployments across Azure and AWS platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues spanning Windows Server, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper‑V), resolving critical incidents in alignment with SLA requirements.
- Drive end‑to‑end infrastructure projects, from planning through execution, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and mentoring junior engineers on advanced troubleshooting techniques and best practices.
- Design, develop, and deploy Power Shell automation to streamline operations and improve efficiency, while maintaining detailed technical documentation for systems, procedures, and ITIL‑aligned processes.
- Provide strategic technical advisory services to clients, optimizing infrastructure performance and guiding technology roadmaps, while managing vendor relationships and participating in stakeholder meetings.
- Enforce and maintain security best practices across managed environments, performing regular security assessments, remediating vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience supporting Microsoft server environments, including Windows Server 2022 and 2025.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365 (O365).
- Strong expertise in Active Directory administration and management.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware and Hyper‑V configuration and operations.
- Solid understanding of core networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft clustering technologies.
- Proficiency in developing, testing, and deploying Power Shell automation scripts.
- Experience with Fortinet networking and security solutions.
- Familiarity with Commvault backup solutions.
- Current Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCP, Azure certifications).
- Knowledge of SAN/storage technologies (e.g., EMC Unity, Net App).
- Hardware troubleshooting experience with Dell and/or HP systems.
- Scripting and leveraging AI agents to turn repetitive tasks into automation.
- Strong communication skills with a professional, detail‑oriented approach.
- Ability to present information clearly with a business‑friendly and approachable demeanor.
