The Systems Administrator will play an important role in maintaining and modernizing the County’s enterprise technology infrastructure. This hands-on position will support servers, networks, communications systems, security, backups, and related infrastructure while working closely with IT teams and business partners.

A major upcoming initiative is replacing the County’s network access and wireless infrastructure. The selected technology vendor is Juniper Networks, with the implementation centered on Juniper Mist. The Systems Administrator will contribute to planning, deployment, configuration, migration, troubleshooting, and ongoing administration of this next-generation network environment.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with enterprise networking technologies, participating in large-scale infrastructure projects, solving complex technical problems, and helping modernize technology services. The role combines project work, hands-on infrastructure support, system administration, and ongoing operational responsibilities in a collaborative IT environment.

Work

Schedule & Expectations:
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • This position requires at least 3 in-office days per week, based on team and business needs.
  • On-site work will occur at 200 W. Oak St., Fort Collins, CO.
  • Requires rotating 24/7 on‑call support for emergency repairs and critical system issues.
  • Weekend, after‑hours, or emergency work may be required as part of the rotating on‑call schedule.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required. Employees may also be required to work during a declared local emergency or disaster.
What you'll be doing:
  • Administering and maintaining enterprise servers, networks, communication systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring reliable day‑to‑day operations.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain server operating systems and software.
  • Developing and maintaining enterprise backup, recovery, and data‑protection strategies.
  • Supporting network and infrastructure installations, relocations, configurations, and repairs at local and remote sites.
  • Developing scripts and automation to improve system efficiency and reduce repetitive work.
  • Maintaining accurate system documentation, equipment inventories, configurations, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborating with network, server, database, security, and other IT teams on projects, upgrades, capacity planning, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Providing responsive technical support, including rotating 24x7 on‑call coverage, while minimizing disruption to County operations.
