Position: ADMINISTRATOR IV- Building Manager CMMHIP.

Department Information

This position is open to current Colorado residents only.

The Hospital Operations Department provides operational oversight of furniture, fixtures, equipment (FFE), office space utilization, procurement, printing operations, risk management, mailroom, delivery of mail, packages, supplies, and building management of the Robert Hawkins Building at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo.

Purpose of Position

THIS IS A 100% In-Person Position. This position is scheduled Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm and requires working at the assigned work location during those times.

This position develops policies and procedures, manages the day‑to‑day operations, directs resources, provides recommendations on budget issues related to the operation of the Robert Hawkins Building, and prioritizes risk management issues. It acts as liaison between the Department of Public Safety (DPS), Division of Facilities Management (DFM), Nutrition Services, Safety and Risk Management, treatment units and clinical departments in the building.

Responsibilities
  • Building Safety and Security Oversight:
    • Ensure patient and public safety through ongoing assessment of risk factors in the Robert Hawkins Building.
    • Manage personal duress alarms; access authorization of electronic key and proximity‑card systems; manage authorization for patient visits.
    • Work with Program Directors and others to identify and resolve building safety and/or security management issues.
    • Coordinate whole‑unit patient movement during building repairs or scheduled maintenance.
    • Review critical incident reports related to building safety issues and impact on clinical risk indicators.
    • Assure safety for the public, patients, and staff through specialized training.
    • Provide recommendations and reports to the Director of Hospital Operations and CMHIP CEO regarding security needs and procedures.
    • Conduct searches of visitation, dining rooms, interview rooms, courtrooms, and spiritual care areas monthly.
  • Facility Management:
    • Review/ initiate all Robert Hawkins Building special maintenance requests before forwarding to Risk Management, Facilities Management (DFM), and CMHIP Public Safety (DPS).
    • Liaison to Facilities Management and Safety Risk Management for allocation and distribution of keys, completion of work orders, building repairs, improvement projects, modifications, and office moves and allocations.
    • Oversee Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) repairs by coordinating repair or replacement of damaged FFE with the Director of Hospital Operations, FFE coordinator, and evaluating and requesting new or replacement FFE.
    • Oversee special activity set‑ups and take‑downs; coordinate with Nutrition Services regarding dining room equipment needs; conduct daily walkthrough of the building to evaluate conditions.
    • Coordinate FFE moves within the building and to/from the building and other campus locations.
    • Facilitate building operations meetings every other month.
  • Property Management:
    • Maintain daily contact with the CMHIP Department of Public Safety, various hospital disciplines, and Unit Teams regarding approval of necessary supplies and personal property allowed within all buildings.
  • Training and New Employee Orientation:
    • Coordinate and conduct training and orientation on key and prox‑card system usage and policy; key retainer box policy; personal duress alarm policy; duress lightbar and response; emergency equipment location and operation; fire drill and evacuation procedures.
  • Other Duties As Assigned:
    • Provide tours of the facility to acquaint people with CMHIP’s mission and reduce stigma associated with mental illness.
    • Other duties may be assigned during the workday.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
  • OR a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to seven (7) years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing building or facility operations, including FFE, space utilization, procurement, and administrative workflows.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and implement policies, oversee daily operations, and prioritize risk management needs.
