Collins Aerospace in Pueblo, CO is hiring for a motivated entry level Machine Operator I in our Machine Shop. You will learn and be responsible for the set-up, calibration and operation of machines used in the production process. Training provided on the job.

The Machine Shop is responsible for ensuring features are cut into densified carbon material from Furnace Deck. This highly complex process requires operators to have sound math skills and meticulous attention to detail as well as a mechanically inclined mind. Physical work is present but much less demanding than some departments. This stage of the process requires operators to operate large machines and perform tasks assigned for quality control and data integrity within digital systems.

Rotating Shift Structure:
  • 3-on/3-off rotation equates to 6-months off every year!
  • Rotating day/night shift every 2 months
  • 12-hour shifts: 6:30AM - 6:30PM / 6:30PM - 6:30AM
Compensation
  • Built-in, guaranteed overtime
  • "Free" hours on non-overtime weeks
    • $18.50/hr starting pay
    • $2.25/hr Shift Differential
    • 208 hours of built in Overtime per year

What You Will Do
  • Be part of a team-oriented atmosphere and interact with other functional groups (e.g., engineering) on technical matters.
  • Set up CNC machines and run parts (training provided).
  • Follow a weekly Preventative Maintenance process.
  • Follow all applicable instructions (WI, SOP, reference documents).
  • Use precision gauging tools (including CMM) and verify gauge calibration (micrometers, calipers, drills, inserts, etc.).
  • Identify and document out-of-spec conditions.
  • Complete daily machine inspections and calibration verification.
  • Follow First Piece Inspection procedures, including tools, inserts, and their functions.
  • Adhere to all safety policies (Collins Aerospace Cardinal Rules).
  • Participate in 5S/continuous improvement processes (CORE).
  • Observe and follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures.
  • Prioritize tasks under constantly changing conditions requiring ingenuity and judgment.
What You Will Learn
  • Gain knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications, including international standards related to the production of carbon-carbon brake components and company policies.
  • Complete all assigned training within the allotted time.
  • Learn to set up CNC machines and run parts.
  • Learn to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Learn to use scales, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Learn to use bar code scanning equipment.
  • Learn to operate power and pneumatic equipment.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a HS Diploma or a GED

  • Manufacturing or similar industry related experience
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience operating CNC equipment.
  • Experience with G&M codes, Macro programming and editing process.
