This is a non-exempt Temporary/Part-time position limited to 1,300 hours annually. This position is part-time, working in the Parks and Recreation Department, under the direct supervision of the Parks Supervisor. The Program Coordinator oversees, directs, and coordinates volunteer operations and activities within the Parks and Recreation Department. This position also develops and implements program goals/objectives and integrates, collaborates, and supports volunteer efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Reviews volunteer applications and selects volunteers.
- Trains, monitors, and evaluates assigned personnel, community service groups, seasonal workers and/or volunteers and provides or coordinates staff training and ensures personnel adherence to City rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Oversees, directs, and coordinates volunteer operations, activities, maintenance, renovations, and refurbishment of program facilities under supervision. This includes the department’s ADOPT-A-PARK and ADOPT-A-STREETSCAPE programs.
- Recommends and assists in the implementation of the Parks’ Department volunteer program goals and objectives.
- Coordinates recruitment of volunteers by reaching out to the community and eliciting community or funding agency financial support for volunteer programs.
- Monitors and tracks expenditures to ensure compliance with Parks and City policies.
- Recommends, assists, and maintains awareness of new developments in the implementation of volunteer program goals and objectives.
- Monitors and evaluates program performance and effectiveness in meeting Parks needs and requirements. Recommends and implements modifications to systems and procedures.
- Develops and implements volunteer opportunities.
- Promotes volunteer opportunities and highlights volunteer accomplishments.
- Identifies areas in the community that need to be cleaned up and organizes volunteers to perform special cleanups.
- Develops and maintains up-to-date job descriptions for volunteer positions.
- Updates and maintains volunteer handbook.
- Maintains and develops reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness to include preparing statistical reports.
- Ensures and manages that all volunteers have the tools, equipment, and resources needed to complete their work efficiently and effectively.
- Promotes and coordinates specific marketing activities and prepares program event and facility marketing material including news releases, flyers, schedules of events, pamphlets, and brochures.
- Plans and coordinates an annual awards banquet program.
- Creates, research, designs, coordinates, and implements educational and volunteer programs appropriate for community participation and events.
- Schedules usage of program facilities for volunteer activities and provides information and assistance to users of facilities.
- With the assistance of the Parks and Recreation Department’s Marketing Coordinator, oversees and approves monthly volunteer newsletter, City website, and social media postings.

- Requires lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Requires the ability to create and/or input large amounts of data using repetitive motion on a frequent and prolonged basis.
- Must be able to hear all communication from customers, citizens, volunteers, and employees by telephone or in person.
- Uses vision to work with written documents, and to monitor volunteers in the field during activities.
- Requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather condition.
