Our Pain management team at Southern Colorado Clinic is seeking a Full-time Pain Management Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with active Colorado license, DEA and prescriptive authority.
As a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant you will be a part of our team that strives to ensure the best patient care possible. The job description is to be both a health practitioner and an educator, working closely with the support team to track all areas of the patient's pain in order to find the best and most effective ways to treat it.
You will be working closely with Board Certified and fellowship trained Pain Medicine Physician and other healthcare professionals, so you should have a team spirit and a positive attitude. JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for all duties of a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. This position is responsible for providing expert medical care to patients with a range of potential illnesses, injuries, or disabilities. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will conduct routine physical examinations on patients of all ages, referring patients to medical specialists or counseling services, and prescribing medication based on the patient's conditions.
This position will also assist Physicians in clinic following established standards and practices.

- Conduct health assessments including recording complete medical and mental health history.
- Select, order, perform, and interpret tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient conditions and augment physical findings.
- Discuss and explain treatments and medications thoroughly with patients and authorized representatives, advising them of all side effects, and reviewing all allergy information is current prior to prescribing any medication or treatment.
- Develop a treatment plan that may include medications, adjuvant therapies and interventional pain procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of current medical procedures, developments, treatments, and available medications.
- Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Provide referrals to medical specialists and counseling services.
- Notate findings and treatment courses in patient chart in a timely manner.
- Maintain work area in a clean, sanitized, and organized manner.
- Follows all Infection Prevention policies and procedures.
- Attends annual required company programs and trainings.
- Attends all regular required department and company meetings.
Maintains strictest confidentiality. - Performs all other tasks and projects assigned.
- Medical Degree from an accredited university required.
- Board Certification in family practice, emergency medicine, or other ABMS recognized specialty.
- Federal and Colorado State licensure (PA, APN, RXN, DEA) required.
- BLS Certification required.
- Understanding of medical coding and billing.
- Knowledge of relevant drugs, their chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical process and transformations they undergo.
- Experience with non-pharmaceutical patient care aids, the applicable uses, and relevance to patient care.
Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate new and current provider staff. - Ability to empathize and effectively communicate with patients, their families, and staff.
