Acuren is currently recruiting for MFL Technicians with NDE to support our operation in Denver, Colorado. This position is a mid to entry level position, reporting to the Visual Inspector, the MFL Technician is responsible for performing Magnetic Flux Leakage inspections on pipelines, storage tanks, and other ferrous structures to detect corrosion, pitting, and other defects. This role requires the safe and effective operation of MFL equipment, accurate data collection, and detailed reporting in accordance with company and industry standards.
Responsibilities- Set up, calibrate, and operate MFL inspection equipment according to manufacturer and company procedures
- Conduct inspections on pipelines, tanks, and other metal structures to identify and assess defects
- Interpret and analyze MFL data to determine the presence and severity of anomalies
- Prepare clear and concise inspection reports and communicate findings to supervisors and clients
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on MFL equipment
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Travel to various job sites, including remote locations, as required
- Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
- Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators
- Organize and report test results
- Perform specialized inspections
- May instruct and supervise others
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some college preferred
- Previous experience in NDT and/or MFL inspections is an asset
- Multi-Certified in MT/PT/UT/UTT/VT/RT/DR/CR (any combination)
- Technical background in NDT methods and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections
- Knowledge of NDT equipment
- Experience in report writing
- Previous experience in an industrial setting
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
