Asset Protection Associate - Pueblo Mall

Overview

Shrink (Asset Protection) role focusing on observing activities to detect theft or fraud, collecting evidence, and following company policy. Travels to stores as necessary and works with store leadership to maintain safety and security standards.

• Observe activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity; collect investigative evidence utilizing CCTV and floor observations. Follow AP Directives and Company policy when making apprehensions.
• Execute required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft and properly document all stages.
• Conduct external interviews in accordance with local laws and Company policy with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Report suspected fraud (e.g., credit/check and refund fraud) and infractions of company policy to AP and/or Store leadership.
• Create and manage records using approved Company methods for reporting apprehension, witness statements, retention of evidence, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Based on direction from Asset Protection leadership, collect evidence and/or monitor associate activity as needed regarding internal investigations and/or serve as an interview witness.
• Proactively identify potential theft and fraud by observing associate/customer activity, exception reports, and referrals.
• Investigate suspicious behavior (collect intelligence, document behavior, etc.).
• Attend court hearings as required and update appropriate files with related outcomes; maintain professional relationship with local law enforcement.
• Travel to stores as necessary.
• Analyze intelligence on individuals and booster groups involved in theft.

• Support a safety culture through impressions of control, coaching, and recognition.
• Assist store leadership in morning meetings to communicate current shrinkage and safety topics to associates.
• Walk the store to identify potential hazards that could result in customer or associate injury; take initiative to correct minor hazards on floor while reporting larger concerns or consistent issues to leadership.
• Provide emergency or critical incident response.
• Assist with incident investigations and complete associated reports.
• May assist with Asset Protection audits.
• Coach associates on keeping work areas and sales floor free of hazards to reduce risk of accidents.
• Support stores in cases of critical incidents, business disruptions, natural disasters, etc.

• Consistently meets established performance standards for the role, including service, productivity, and attendance.

• AP Associates designated as part of the AP Shared Services staffing model will require reliable transportation and the ability to travel to designated stores.
• 1+ years retail work experience/Asset Protection/Security or equivalent leadership experience/education preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.
• Must be age 18 or older.
