Department Information. This position is critical to protecting the health, life and safety of Coloradans. This position is open only to current Colorado state residents. An eligible list established with this recruitment may be used to fill other similar positions within the Colorado Department of Public Safety in the next 12 months. This position is not subject to the Hiring Freeze as outlined in Executive Order D  due to being critical to protecting the health, life and safety of Coloradans. An eligible list established with this recruitment may be used to fill other similar positions within the Colorado Department of Public Safety in the next 12 months. Description Of Job About the Work Unit

This Communications Branch provides professional public safety communications for the Colorado State Patrol, partner agencies, and the public. Services include researching and disseminating routine, emergency and criminal justice information, dispatching, and, when required, providing 911 and emergency medical dispatch services.

Work Environment
  • 100% in-person position
  • 24/7 operations including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Shifts vary; additional compensation via shift differentials: 20% Weekend shifts (4PM Friday - 6AM Monday), 7.5% Swing shift (4PM - 11PM Monday - Thursday), 14% Grave shift (11PM - 6AM Monday - Thursday)
  • The Communications Officer training program is approximately 20 weeks. The first four weeks of training are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
