Work Schedule

The standard work schedule for this position is Sunday through Wednesday, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., but may alternate between shifts and holidays as needed. Successful candidates must follow verbal and written communications, interpret policies and memos, and exhibit the physical abilities described below. The position requires exertion up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly, as well as the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, hear, and use depth perception.

PPE and standardized uniforms will be worn.

Shift Differential
  • Shift differentials will be paid to eligible classes as published in the State’s annual pay plan.
  • Regular rate applies between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (no differential).
  • 2nd shift differential (7.5%) applies when half or more of hours fall between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
  • 3rd shift differential (14%) applies when half or more of hours fall between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Weekend differential (20%) applies when more than half of hours fall on a weekend shift. Weekend shifts start at 4:00 p.m. Friday through 6:00 a.m. Monday.
Job Description

Full‑time position located in the Security Department at Colorado Community College System – Lowry Campus. The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Patrolling and Call Responses
    :
    Conduct security patrols of campus and college buildings on foot or by other means; provide stationary post duties; respond to calls for service directed by radio, telephone, or management personnel; report breaches and coordinate with local police; perform safety escorts; inspect buildings; respond to alarms; provide customer service by delivering information and assistance.
  • Investigations and Reporting
    :
    Provide initial response to emergencies and incidents; conduct investigations; write accurate and timely reports; file reports using computer‑aided systems; maintain logs; report incidents on Clery reports and collaborate with law enforcement to preserve evidence.
  • Enforcement
    :
    Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic; enforce college rules and regulations; challenge trespassers and errant vehicles; deter safety risks; detain individuals when necessary using baton techniques or restraints until law enforcement arrives; issue parking tickets and trespass notifications.
  • Emergency Responses
    :
    Assist in evacuations during emergencies; provide first aid/CPR/AED; serve as initial responder for tornadoes, floods, bomb threats, lockdowns, etc.; issue warnings. Maintain certifications required for emergency response.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Use
    :
    Care for college equipment, vehicles, and authorized protection tools; maintain proficiency with campus safety systems; complete required certifications.
  • Campus Security Authority
    :
    Report crimes that pose an ongoing threat to the community immediately to the Police Department.
  • Residency Requirement
    :
    The posting is open only to residents of the State of Colorado.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of primary work experience in security, campus safety, or law enforcement. Part‑time experience will be prorated.
  • College‑level coursework in Law Enforcement or related field may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis; transcript verifying required credits must be submitted by deadline.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license to operate campus vehicles.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 60 days of hire if not already certified.
  • Successful completion of background check, physical, agility, and drug test.
  • Minimum age 21 years.
