Job SummaryPerform DOT inspections, preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment. Act as the lead technician on job sites, providing expert diagnostics, troubleshooting, and client consultation.
Responsibilities- Schedule and conduct preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections for a range of vehicles.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electronic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems including brakes, cooling, engine electronics, diesel steering, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic instruments.
- Road‑test vehicles to verify proper operation after repairs.
- Manage parts inventory, obtain necessary parts from approved vendors, and reconcile supplies.
- Maintain company‑issued service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Engage with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, and resolve issues.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks, allocate time efficiently, and maintain high productivity.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks in accordance with safety protocols.
- Document work, upload photos, and fill out DOT and internal forms using the company iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Conform to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and internal safety, health, and environmental policies.
- High school diploma or GED plus at least 3 years of experience with heavy‑duty vehicles.
- Alternate candidates may have a related degree or 5 years of experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with refrigerated equipment.
- Own a set of hand tools required for job duties.
- Must complete all company‑required training.
- Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and physical exam; a DOT medical card with more than four months validity may substitute the physical.
- Must be 21 years or older, hold a valid driver’s license in the state of residence, and maintain a Driver Qualification File.

- Excellent written and verbal communication; concise and organized.
- Effective two‑way communication with clients and team members.
- Judicious use of tool and equipment selection.
- Spatial awareness and ability to judge distances.
- Logical reasoning to evaluate alternatives and make informed decisions.
