Division of Facilities Management - South District
The Division of Facilities Management (DFM) supports the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses, ensuring safe and effective environments for clients, staff, and the surrounding communities. The South District serves the following facilities:
- Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP)
- Pueblo Regional Center (PRC)
- Department of Corrections (DOC)
- Division of Youth Services (Zeb Pike, Spring Creek, and Pueblo Youth Services Center)
- Veteran’s Community Living Centers in the South District, as needed.
Work is required at the assigned location during scheduled times. This is a full‑time, in‑person essential position.
The purpose of this position is to maintain all electrical branch‑circuit, feeder, service equipment, bonding systems, devices, and facility systems in a complete and thorough journeyman‑like manner, following proper procedures, tools, code, and regulatory standards.
Duties Repair of Electrical EquipmentMaintain all electrical components and systems in a complete and thorough journeyman‑like manner, following proper procedures, tools, and equipment, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.
Design SystemsFor new construction, additions, and remodels, design, layout, and determine materials required to install new and adapt existing electrical branch distribution systems, devices, raceways, wiring, appliances, and equipment per N.E.C. requirements. Coordinate with associated trades and contractors.
Read, Create, Redline Blueprints/SchematicsRead, interpret, design, draw, and modify blueprints, wiring schematics, and wiring diagrams to service and maintain electrical distribution systems, devices, appliances, and equipment per N.E.C. requirements.
Preventative Maintenance of Electrical EquipmentPerform required and trade‑related preventative and predictive maintenance on existing stationary and mobile electrical branch distribution systems, devices, appliances, and equipment per N.E.C. requirements.
Preventative Maintenance of Appliances- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and perform PMs on commercial and residential kitchen equipment including:
- Power slicers, can openers, bread slicers and other electrically operated kitchen equipment, sharpening and installing new cutting knives.
- Steam operated kitchen equipment such as hot water boosters, coffee urns, hot water dispensers, cook/steam combination ovens, and kettles.
- Electrically operated kitchen equipment including ovens, toasters, dish machines, hot water boosters, mixers, choppers, and blenders.
- Gas operated kitchen equipment such as combination steam/cook ovens, large rotating bake ovens, and large commercial ranges.
- Specialty equipment in the commercial bake shop such as dough mixers, rounders, dividers, cookie machines, pie machines, and proofers.
- Electronic controls including microprocessors, circuit boards, relays, and PLCs for listed equipment.
- Order parts and supplies, provide specifications and guidance to nutritional services staff, keep inventory of needed replacement parts, and assist in installation and set‑up of new kitchen equipment.
Additional duties such as snow removal, assisting other departments with general labor requirements, etc., may be assigned.
Education, Licensure, Certification, ExperienceApplicants must possess current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician or master electrician issued by the Colorado Electrical Board.

- Valid and active master electrician license issued by the State of Colorado.
- Relevant years of state service experience.
- Experience repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, including distribution, security, fire alarms, and automation controls.
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling procedures.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Knowledge of NFPA 110
- Emergency Power. - Knowledge of NFPA 101.
- Ability to read and understand sketches, shop drawings, and complex blueprints.
