Division of Facilities Management – South DistrictThe Division of Facilities Management (DFM) operates, maintains, and manages Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) facilities and campuses. DFM services are customer‑driven and promote a safe, sanitary, and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, patients, consumers, and staff.
Facilities Served- Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP)
- Pueblo Regional Center (PRC)
- Department of Corrections (DOC)
- Division of Youth Services (Zeb Pike, Spring Creek, and Pueblo Youth Services Center)
- Veteran’s Community Living Centers in the South District, as needed
You are required to work at your assigned location during scheduled times. Work arrangements may change at any time. This is a full‑time, in‑person, essential position.
PurposeMaintain all electrical branch‑circuit, feeder, service equipment, bonding systems, devices, and facility systems in a thorough, journeyman‑grade manner, using proper procedures and tools, and in compliance with all applicable code and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Repair electrical equipment, ensuring complete and thorough restoration.
- Design new construction, additions, and remodels, specifying materials and coordinating with other trades.
- Read, interpret, design, draw, and modify blueprints, wiring schematics, and diagrams to service and maintain systems.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on stationary and mobile electrical systems and appliances.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on kitchen equipment, including power slicers, ovens, and specialized bake‑shop machinery.
- Handle other duties such as snow removal, general labor, and any additional tasks required of the position.
Applicants must possess current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician or master electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board.
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies- Valid and active master electrician license issued by the State of Colorado.
- Relevant years of state service experience.
- Experience in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems, distribution and security systems, fire alarms, and automation controls.
- Experience reviewing and documenting audits and inspections of electrical projects.
- Knowledge of proper procedures for hazardous‑material handling and care.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 110 (Emergency Power), and NFPA 101.
- Ability to read and understand sketches, shop drawings, and complex blueprints.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong prioritization skills and the ability to meet established time frames.
- Excellent customer‑service skills, anticipating and meeting customer needs.
- State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
- Full pre‑employment criminal background check required; felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions related to duties may disqualify applicants.
- Must possess and maintain an active, valid master or journeyman electrician license issued by Colorado.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license. Out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of employment start.
- Must pass a motor‑vehicle check and a tuberculosis test.
- Travel required:
driving state vehicles from site to site, attending training, meetings, and occasional other districts. - Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical or religious exemption.
- Must be available for after‑hours calls, on‑call rotations, and emergency services outside normal business hours.
- Must understand and comply with exposure to hazardous materials, electrical shock, and high‑exposure environments.
- Former state employees with disciplinary termination must disclose the information and provide a rationale for reconsideration.
