Position Summary
Mill Electrical Technician (MET) at our plant in Pueblo, Colorado, works with a team to maintain electrical, electronic, and combustion instrumentation throughout the mill, under the supervision of the Superintendent of Maintenance.
Responsibilities- Serve the functions of a Combustion‑Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman and/or Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician) depending upon training and certification.
- Complete the RMSM training program to become skilled in all three crafts.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, dismantle, assemble and install equipment in the mill.
- Work with the Electric Shop, Combustion Lab and Electronic Shop equipment and tools, mobile equipment, controls, switches, valves, ovens, furnaces, machinery, cranes, prints and drawings.
- Observe lockout procedures and keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.
- Perform routine maintenance and assist maintenance personnel.
- Operate overhead cranes as needed.
- Work in both inside and outside environmental conditions while exposed to noise, vibration, extreme cold and heat, for which a respirator or dust mask is required.
- Work near moving parts, electrical currents, scaffolding, high places, natural gas, high heat, hot surfaces, molten metal, chemicals, oils and lubricants.
- Maintain OSHA 10 and required equipment certifications.
- Completed or have equivalence of a craft apprenticeship in Combustion‑Instrumentation Technician, Electronic Repairman or Electrical Inspector (Maintenance Electrician).
- 1–3 years of experience as an electrician in heavy industry, manufacturing or mining; experience with machinery, overhead cranes or related field preferred.
- Valid Colorado license and mobile equipment qualification.
- Strong troubleshooting, repair and installation skills.
- Self‑starter with minimal supervision and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Physical ability to climb, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, make repetitive motions, hear, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must demonstrate proficiency through testing.
$38.25 to $45.00 per hour depending on experience. Shift differential available. Competitive wages and bonuses.
