Maintenance Worker
Job DescriptionAssists and performs maintenance duties on treating and pumping facilities, such as structures, heating systems, plumbing systems, landscaping, ditches, piping, conduits, and housekeeping chores. "In-Training" position - must obtain the Class 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification within 30 months from date of entry into position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Monitors, maintains, repairs, and/ or operates equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, meters, valves, gauges, small tools, lawn mowers, and weed eaters.
- Assists in installing, testing, regulating a variety of mechanical equipment, and related record keeping.
- Maintains equipment and tools in working order and keeps a neat working area.
- Performs related duties such as welding, sheet metal work, carpentry, painting, pipe fitting, and concrete work.
- Assists in operating and maintaining all assigned vehicles, equipment and machinery.
- Monitors and determines frequency of needed cleaning and painting of Treating & Pumping facilities.
- Operates assigned vehicle.
- May be temporarily assigned to pump station operational duties during Pump Station Operator II's absences.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Colorado Class 2 Water Distribution Operator certification.
- Must successfully complete continuing education/training unit courses required to maintain certification.
- Two years of related experience.
- Colorado Class "R" Driver's License.
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and ability to operate heavy equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and specialized machinery.
- Ability to perform mechanical adjustments on field equipment.
- Basic knowledge of welding, sheet metal work, carpentry, painting, pipe fitting, and concrete work.
- Basic interpersonal skills are required to exchange general information and interact informally with co workers and supervisors.
- Basic knowledge of computers and ability to operate control system software programs for operation and maintenance purposes.
- Must possess the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Materials and equipment used include machinery, motors, instrumentation, and tools related to water pumping, grounds maintenance equipment, and assigned vehicle.
