We are currently searching for a dynamic individual to become the Vocational Specialist for our unit.
SUMMARYThe Vocational Specialist assists participants with choosing, preparing, obtaining, and maintaining employment. More specifically, the Vocational Specialist works directly with participants to discuss options and goals, develop and maintain relationships with state partners, employers, and other community members, locate barriers to employment and work with participants to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers, hold meetings and workshops to build work skills, facilitate assessments and evaluations, role model for direct support professionals, maintain close contact with participants during job training and placement(s) to resolve problems and evaluate placement adequacy and prepares and maintain records and reports by monitoring and documenting progress.
All positions require pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Identify, develop, and enhance partnerships with career development collaboratives between CTP and agencies, institutions, companies, and community members that will hire individuals with barriers such as criminal backgrounds, no/inconsistent job history, or low educational attainment.
- Conduct outreach to employers to find training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain the highest cooperative and professional relationships with employers and community members.
- Provide referrals to employment support agencies that offer job training, internships, apprenticeships, or training programs.
- Establish professional relationships with participants who are unemployed, underemployed, or have minimal educational attainment.
- Collaborate with varying program case managers to identify and assess the needs of participants.
- We meet, assess, and create action plans with adults who need employment support weekly or biweekly.
- Engage adult family members who need support in identifying and assessing strengths that will assist in creating short—and long-term employment goals.
- Identify & reduce barriers to gainful employment.
- Empower those needing services with skills & support on job applications, resumes, interview attire, and interviews.
- Host or connect with partners for job fairs, employment skills training, classes, and seminars.
- Create an employment board/online forum with daily updates on available employment leads and opportunities.
- Connect adult family members with opportunities for professional growth, such as skill certification classes/programs or collegiate opportunities.
- Resources, training, and skills are offered to encourage/promote employment retention and professional growth.
- Populate monthly/quarterly/annual reports that will document vocational program results (i.e., the number of individuals served, the average number of days from unemployed to employed, average household income increases, etc.,

Education:
A High School Diploma or GED with four years of experience (recruiting and networking experience) may substitute the BA requirement.
Bachelor’s degree in human services and/or related field.
Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) certification or eligible to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
Experience:
Four years of experience in a similar position.
Other:
- Valid driver's license and insurability.
- Ability to travel to varying locations.
- Ability to work after business hours (if necessary).
