Job DescriptionPurpose Statement: The Middle School Teacher provides instructional support by supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, collaborating with staff and parents, and addressing classroom issues.
Essential Functions- Administers and develops subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop learning plans.
- Advise parents/guardians on student progress and reinforce classroom goals at home.
- Assess student progress toward objectives and provide feedback.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
- Counsel students to improve performance, health, problem‑solving, and personal issues.
- Demonstrate differentiated instruction methods to address individual student needs.
- Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers.
- Instruct students to improve academic success.
- Manage student behavior ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Monitor students in various educational settings.
- Participate in professional meetings and development activities.
- Prepare written materials such as lesson plans, grades, attendance, and anecdotal records.
- Report incidents such as fights, abuse, substance abuse, harassment, and other offenses.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
- Answer inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, students, and office staff.
- Support fellow classroom teachers with curriculum implementation and student plans.
Performs related duties as assigned to support efficient operation of the work unit.
Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and teaching certification/license.
Experience: Job‑related experience required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Assessment and data analysis.
- Use of standard office equipment and educational technology.
- Instructional planning and differentiation.
- Behavior management and counseling.
- Communication with parents, students, and staff.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Continuing Education/Training: Maintain licensure (renew or advance).
