Aesthetics Technology Program Associate Instructor
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Pulaski is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Associate Instructor for the new Aesthetics Technology Program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Postsecondary diploma in Aesthetics, Cosmetology, or related field required; associate degree preferred.
- Current, active Tennessee Cosmetology/Barber Instructor License required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful recent industry experience as a licensed aesthetician.
- Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred.
- Experience in a postsecondary or technical education environment.
- Experience with advanced skincare treatments and technologies.
- Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Cosmetology rules and regulations.
- Experience using student information systems and online learning platforms.
- Industry certifications and continuing education in aesthetics or skincare specialties.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Computer proficiency and ability to use instructional technology effectively.
- Ability to teach and demonstrate all phases of aesthetics technology.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and foster a positive learning environment.
- Provide classroom, laboratory, and hands‑on clinical instruction in all areas of aesthetics technology, including but not limited to:
- Skin analysis and care
- Facial treatments
- Hair removal techniques
- Makeup application
- Lash and brow services
- Sanitation and infection control
- Tennessee laws and rules
- Client consultation and professionalism
- Product chemistry and ingredients
- Business and salon management principles
- Develop and maintain lesson plans, instructional materials, classroom demonstrations, and competency-based evaluations.
- Evaluate and monitor student progress; maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
- Prepare students for Tennessee state board licensure examinations and successful employment in the aesthetics industry.
- Utilize technology and learning management systems to support instruction and student engagement.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional classroom/lab environment in compliance with state regulations.
- Supervise students during laboratory and clinic activities while reinforcing appropriate safety and sanitation procedures.
- Counsel and advise students regarding academic performance, attendance, professionalism, employability, and career goals.
- Participate in student recruitment, retention, advisory committee meetings, open houses, career fairs, and community outreach activities.
- Assist with curriculum development, program accreditation activities, and continuous program improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with salons, spas, med spas, dermatology offices, and industry partners.
- Participate in professional development activities to remain current with industry trends, instructional methods, and state board requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
