Job Description

As part of the mission of Student Experience, this position administers the University disciplinary system for residential, academic and non-academic concerns as the primary Student Conduct Officer. The Director develops programming, conducts training, and implements the disciplinary system to ensure consistent, fair, and timely resolution of conduct cases. The Director assists the Vice Provost for Student Experience with oversight and management of the area as a member of the Student Experience Leadership team.

The Director also serves as the Title IX Coordinator: maintaining policies and procedures, training staff, implementing educational programs, receiving complaints, overseeing adjudication and maintaining compliance for the program. The Director also serves as the chairperson for the University-wide CARE Team for behavioral intervention and threat assessment. They will also perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Director, as Student Conduct Officer, is responsible for engaging students who interact with in the student disciplinary system, prioritizing student development and growth. The Director is responsible for the development and administration of the student conduct program that upholds academic and behavioral standards of the University:

  • Ensure a timely response to complaints, conducting investigations, administering educational/disciplinary hearings
  • Determine educational and behavioral sanctions
  • Monitor all educational sanctions for compliance
  • Oversee the formal hearing process
  • Manage the appeal process
  • Responsible for supporting the administration of the Student Conduct Board system and directing Student Conduct Board proceedings
  • Serves as the administrator of the Maxient system and is responsible for updating student records in Maxient as a result of conduct, student concern, Student Conduct Board outcomes, and behavioral intervention discussions
  • Serves as the Title IX Coordinator. Oversees and administer the Office of Title IX: maintains policies and procedures, trains staff, implements educational programs, receives complaints, oversees adjudication and maintains compliance for the program
  • Disseminate, interpret, and enforce campus policies and procedures
  • Foster and create a culture of student advocacy, support, mattering and belonging

The Director educates the University community through developing and presenting trainings and educational materials to instructors, students, and staff on (a) conduct policies and procedures; (b) faculty-specific obligations and procedures regarding academic conduct; (c) Title IX policies and procedures; (d) resources and request processes.

The Director oversees the development of publications and communication and marketing tools regarding both student conduct and Title IX. The Director is responsible for developing training materials for Honor Council members, hearing officers, and others involved with the student conduct process. Maintain the Student Handbook

Serve on the Student Experience leadership team and assist the Vice Provost for Student Experience with oversight of the area;
Work closely with the Vice Provost to develop division strategic plans, goals, and initiatives and to formulate and interpret and policies; planning;
Assist with conducting departmental program reviews to provide internal and external evaluation of the administrative areas;
Manages resolution process for inquiries and concerns and /or matters submitted by students, faculty, staff, parents, university administration and members of the community;
The Director also helps facilitate and provides support and guidance for the Residence Life department.

Manages student safety, crisis management, and student emergency programs for Student Experience. Supports students in crisis. Serves as the chairperson for the University-wide CARE Team for behavioral intervention and assessment.

Assist with UT System priorities around eliminating achievement gaps in target populations.

The Director will serve as the liaison for efforts in retaining and supporting students from populations traditionally underrepresented in higher education, notably adult learners, community college transfer students, first-generation students, males, students from rural and distressed communities, underserved groups veterans, and other groups historically marginalized in the college experience.
