Job Description

As part of the mission of the Division of Student Experience this position contributes to the holistic education of all students by providing programs and experiential opportunities that advance student learning and engagement.

This position is responsible for curating a comprehensive and transformational student experience, including a diverse and dynamic calendar of activities and engagement opportunities that meet the needs and desires of the campus, as well as operational and staffing aspects of the program(s) as well as other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for increasing student involvement and engagement in the University community Oversees and administers Orientation, Family programs, and Welcome-Week
  • Responsible for major student leadership and engagement initiatives and programs that have a significant impact on the student engagement, success, and the UTS experience
  • Foster and create a culture of student advocacy, support, mattering and belonging
  • Develops a robust and evidence-based student experience that deepens engagement and belonging, and provides timely services and support for all students
  • Works directly with the Student Government Association to provide a connection between the students and the campus administration
  • Develops and implement strategies for increasing student involvement and engagement in the University community
  • Ensure the preparation and dissemination of appropriate materials promoting student engagement programs and events on campus Monitor, analyze, and interpret data evaluating the effectiveness of programs and activities.
  • Responsible for the planning, organization, advertisement, and administration of the student activity and intramural programs which include recruiting, supervising, training, scheduling, disciplining, and evaluating students.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of student activity and intramural participants Identify and evaluate student needs through verbal & written communication
  • Compile monthly & annual reports on program attendance, in addition to overseeing all equipment including inventory.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support program delivery (i.e. student staff schedules and time sheets and expense reports).
  • Develop student learning outcomes and assist with assessments on programming, education and activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and report information to be used for university-level reports or briefings. Provide relative data that can be used for assessment and decision making.
  • Compile monthly & annual reports on program attendance, in addition to doing equipment inventory.
  • Assist with the development of the orientation program and lead its associated elements in the first year (i.e. Welcome Week), including but not limited to:
    • Provide support for the orientation committee; work closely with the committee to coordinate and implement new student orientation programs Mentor and train student orientation staff, fostering a strong sense of community and responsibility
    • Assess first-year and transfer orientation programs to innovate beyond best practices and ensure that the current programmatic model and offerings assists students in the transition to academic and co-curricular life.
    • Work collaboratively with First Year Experience Programs to expand Into the Streets and with elements of connection and the UT Southern experience throughout the first year.

Required:
