Plastic Injection Mold Technician What You’ll Do Mold Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble molds.
  • Repair worn or damaged mold components.
  • Replace ejector pins, slides, lifters, inserts, leader pins, bushings, and other mold components.
  • Perform spotting, fitting, polishing, and bench work.
Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and resolve mold‑related production issues.
  • Troubleshoot:
    • Flash
    • Short shots
    • Burn marks
    • Splay
    • Sink
    • Warpage
    • Dimensional concerns
  • Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve mold performance.
Mold Assembly & Tooling Support
  • Assist with new mold builds and mold modifications.
  • Support mold sampling and tryout activities.
  • Verify fit, function, and operational readiness of tooling.
Precision Measurement & Shop Work
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Operate calipers.
  • Operate micrometers.
  • Operate manual shop equipment as needed.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Follow OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the toolroom.
