This role exists to support continued growth and machining demand at GIS Precision Machining. As a CNC Programmer / Machinist, you will play a critical role in producing high-precision components for industrial, aerospace, and commercial applications, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality, and minimizing machine downtime.
The Work You’ll Be DoingIn this role, you will:
- Program efficient CNC toolpaths using Fusion 360
- Set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Perform pre-programming reviews to optimize machining strategy
- Select tooling, create tooling requests, and set offsets
- Set up work pieces (cores, cavities, and components)
- Run production jobs and ensure parts meet quality standards
- Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision tools
- Monitor and record machine downtime and performance issues
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to improve uptime
- Collaborate with production, quality, and leadership teams
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
You’ll work with equipment such as:
- Machines: 3, 4, and 5-Axis Vertical Mills
- Controls: Haas, Mazak
- CAM Software: Autodesk Fusion 360
- Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Aluminum
- Steel & Stainless Steel
- Titanium
- Brass & Copper
Required:
- 3+ years of CNC machining and programming experience
- Strong experience with 3-axis and multi-axis milling (4/5-axis)
- Proficiency in Fusion 360 (CAM programming)
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Experience with setups, tooling, and offsets
- Skilled with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with Haas and Mazak machines
- Lathe programming or mill-turn experience
- Exposure to high-precision or aerospace components
- OSHA and forklift training
