Overview
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Detox Unit in Pulaski, TN, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and night shift availability.
Requirements- Active RN license valid in Tennessee (TN state license or compact license) required
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required; 5+ years preferred
- ASN degree minimum required
- Detox or medical-surgical experience required; ER experience will also be considered
- Experience with CIWA/COWS protocols preferred
- Proficiency in IV access and patient care across all age groups required
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Must reside 60 or more miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
- Cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
- Work setting is a 13-bed Detox Unit within a 95-bed, Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospital serving southern Tennessee
- Primary patient population includes adults and geriatric patients (ages 17+) presenting with substance abuse, polysubstance abuse, ETOH, behavioral conditions, hypertension, syncope, seizures, liver disease, cognitive changes, and high fall risk
- Patient ratio is 1:7
- Common treatments include valium tapers, Subutex, Vivitrol, banana bags, rescue medications, and routine/home medications
- Equipment includes IV pumps, Zoll monitors, and IV catheters
- EHR system is HMS/Medhost
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required, with additional weekend hours as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to other departments may occasionally be required but is not a standard expectation
- Responsibilities include bedside shift report, patient briefs/debriefs, unit checks, and required audits and documentation processes
- Preferred skills include assisting with bedside procedures such as PICC lines and midlines, and familiarity with CIWA/COWS protocols
- All clinical staff in Tennessee must be checked against the Tennessee Abuse Registry prior to assignment start
- Handle With Care training will be required after hire
- Orientation is held on Mondays
- Scrub color: any solid color; hoodies, open-toed shoes, logo outerwear, and jewelry that could pose a safety risk are not permitted
- The ideal candidate is team-oriented, calm under pressure, confident in clinical judgment, and respectful of facility standards and department expectations
