Loader Operators play a crucial role in the daily operations of IAA’s auction facilities, utilizing front‑end loaders to move vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety, and maintaining the readiness of the lot for auction sales.
Responsibilities- Use a front‑end loader to move vehicles and equipment around the facility.
- Load and unload trucks as they deliver or pick up vehicles.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance to keep equipment in safe working condition.
- Maintain accurate inventory of vehicles and parts on the lot.
- Document and record vehicle information, perform vehicle improvements (e.g., shrink wrapping, steam cleaning), and execute light maintenance in preparation for sale.
- Assist visitors by providing guidance or directing them to the appropriate person for additional assistance.
- Remain calm, alert, and actively avoid potential safety hazards or situations that could damage property while operating heavy equipment.
- Report any violations of company policy to a supervisor or manager promptly.
- Valid driver’s license and high school diploma (or equivalent).
- Physical ability to perform a non‑desk job; excellent teamwork and positive customer interaction.
- Preferred experience operating forklifts or front‑end loaders (e.g., Volvo L90G or L90H).
- Background in automotive or collision repair and/or related field is strongly preferred.
- Apply safety procedures to protect company and customer assets.
- Use personal protective equipment such as safety gloves and glasses.
- Identify and respond to unsafe situations to avoid accidents.
- Comply with industry regulations for hazardous material handling.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs and occasionally over 100 lbs.
- Constantly reach, handle, and manipulate objects; stand, walk, and sit as required.
- Frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, and crawl.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and remain alert to hazards involving heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Work primarily outdoors in all types of weather.
- Remain alert to potential hazards associated with heavy equipment and other vehicles in the work area.
