Position: Program Assistant | University Writing (Pullman, WA)

Program Assistant | University Writing (Pullman, WA)

Washington State University's Office of the Provost and Department of Academic Engagement & Student Engagement (DAESA) is now accepting applications for a Writing Program Assistant. In this Program Assistant role you will serve as the primary point of operational and administrative contact for the Writing Program Director. You will manage the administrative aspects of the University Writing Portfolio and Placement Assessments under the direction of the Writing Program Director.

You will also handle unit course scheduling for Write classes and English 102, under supervision of the Writing Program Director. Your duties will include, but are not limited to: administrative support to the Writing Program and to the Writing Program Director, maintaining a calendar of the workflow for the University Writing Portfolio and Writing Placement, office space management, developing and maintaining assessment databases, and coordination and collaboration with the Fiscal Specialist on various projects.

Percentage breakdown of duties:

  • 45% - Program Support
  • 30% - Student Services, Communication, and Outreach
  • 10% - Assessment Support
  • 10% - Records and Reporting
  • 5% - Other duties assigned.

This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime- eligible. This is an in-person/on-site role located on the WSU campus in Pullman, WA.

Monthly Salary: $3,565 to $4,476 | Range 39 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills (written and oral) skills.
  • Experience providing administrative support in an office or program setting.
  • Experience communicating effectively with a variety of different populations, including students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (esp., Word, Excel, Outlook) and database software.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education or a university setting.
  • Experience coordinating academic assessment, testing, or placement activities.
  • Experience supporting fiscal processes including billing, purchasing, contracts, or budget tracking.
  • Experience providing customer service to diverse student and stakeholder populations.
  • Experience with MyWSU and Slate.
