Academic Coordinator/Advisor – Health Professions Student Center
Washington State University’s College of Arts & Sciences is accepting applications for an Academic Advisor in the Health Professions Student Center. The role provides advanced-level professional advising for Pre‑Nursing, Pre‑Pharmacy, and Pre‑Nutrition Exercise and Physiology students. Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty and admissions offices, representing the Center at university functions, advising on career and course choices, and coordinating student service programs such as recruitment and retention initiatives.
EssentialDuties
- Academic advising for Pre‑Nursing, Pre‑Pharmacy, and Pre‑Nutrition Exercise and Physiology.
- Student recruitment and retention activities.
- Provide workshops, teaching modules, and program assessment.
- Represent the Health Professions Student Center in communication with Nursing and Pharmacy programs to increase matriculation rates.
- Advise student clubs.
- Advise students on career paths.
- Availability for some evenings and weekends.
This is a full‑time (100% FTE), permanent position that is overtime eligible. The role is on‑site/in‑person and located in Pullman, WA.
Monthly Salary$3,750.85 to $4,574.20 – commensurate with experience and qualifications. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience working with students in an educational setting, or related experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Experience working directly with students or student services.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Experience with academic advising and related activities.
- Experience with recruitment and outreach.
- Experience collecting and managing data.
- Experience in career development.
