Career Track Scholarly Assistant Professor and Director of Industry Relations – School of Hospitality Business Management (SHBM), Carson College of Business
Position:
Full‑time, 9‑month, non‑tenure fixed term. Renewable every three years. Anticipated start date:
August 16, 2026. Temporary end date:
May 15, 2029.
Faculty type:
Career‑track appointment. Exempt from overtime. Salary: $80,000–$95,000 for the 9‑month faculty base salary; one‑ninth of the base pay as a summer administrative stipend.
- Teach undergraduate courses in hospitality or business (50% teaching load).
- Direct and manage all aspects of the industry relations program (50% service).
- Lead professional skills development and job placement initiatives for SHBM students.
- Build and maintain partnerships with industry, alumni, donors, and employers.
- Serve as institutional relationship director to advance strategic goals of SHBM.
- Collaborate with the SHBM director on philanthropic opportunities.
- Coordinate internships, track internship hours, secure mentors, and select scholarship recipients.
- Develop and manage fiscal and operational strategies, including budgeting and reporting to funding entities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university policies.
- Compile annual reports on recruiting and placement.
- Earned master’s degree in hospitality, business administration, or a closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university.
- Demonstrated ability or potential to develop and maintain industry partnerships and steward stakeholders.
- Evidence of success or potential in advising hospitality students or teaching introductory hospitality or business classes at the undergraduate level.
- Experience collaborating collaboratively and contributing to a collegial department atmosphere.
- Experience in developing academic programs and fostering student engagement.
- Relevant industry experience in hospitality or similar fields.
