Job DescriptionDefinition of Position :
The Pullman High School Counselor/CTE Career Coordinator serves in a dual role, providing comprehensive school counseling services while leading the school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) career readiness program. This position supports students' academic, social-emotional, college, career, and postsecondary planning while coordinating career exploration, High School and Beyond Planning, work-based learning opportunities, business partnerships, and CTE career initiatives.

Required Qualifications :
- Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate with a school counselor endorsement
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Washington State graduation requirements, High School and Beyond Plan requirements, Career & Technical Education programs, FAFSA, and WASFA
- Experience working with students in career planning, college admissions, financial aid, apprenticeships, military pathways, and workforce development
- Ability to build partnerships with business, industry, higher education, and community organizations
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively utilize technology and career planning software
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policy
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in counseling or related field
- Occupational Information Specialist Certification
- Experience in school counseling, career counseling, CTE, workforce development, or related educational setting preferred
- Experience coordinating work-based learning programs
- Experience with High School and Beyond Plan software
- Experience supervising internships, apprenticeships, or career-connected learning
- Experience writing or managing grants
- Experience collaborating with industry advisory committees
Essential Job-related Activities :
School Counseling:
- Provide a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) framework and Washington State standards
- Assist students with academic planning, graduation requirements, and course selection
- Support students with social-emotional, behavioral, and personal concerns through counseling and consultation
- Provide crisis response and intervention as needed
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, and outside agencies to support student success
- Assist students and families with college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, military opportunities, apprenticeships, and postsecondary planning
- Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements
- Maintain accurate student records and required documentation
Career & Technical Education Coordination:
- Coordinate the school's career readiness and career exploration program
- Lead implementation and monitoring of High School and Beyond Plans for students
- Coordinate career assessments, career planning software, and student career portfolios
- Develop partnerships with local employers, industries, higher education institutions, apprenticeship programs, military representatives, and community organizations
- Coordinate career fairs, college fairs, industry speakers, campus visits, field trips, and career awareness activities
- Organize internships, apprenticeships, job shadows, work-based learning opportunities, and other career-connected learning experiences
- Collaborate with CTE teachers to strengthen Programs of Study and career pathway alignment
- Assist CTE instructors with implementation of industry-recognized certifications and career readiness credentials
- Coordinate student participation in dual credit opportunities and career pathway programs
- Support career awareness activities for students and families through evening events, parent information nights, and community outreach
- Promote equitable access to CTE programs and non-traditional career pathways
- Assist with FAFSA and WASFA
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Participate in district CTE planning, advisory committees, and curriculum development
- Assist in identifying grant opportunities supporting career readiness and workforce development initiatives
Collect, analyze, and report data related to CTE participation, work-based learning, High School and Beyond Plans, career readiness, and postsecondary outcomes - Provide professional learning and resources to staff related to career awareness and postsecondary planning
