The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Teaching), Career track faculty position in Pullman, WA. This position is a fixed-term, 9-month, 3-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. We seek applicants to teach courses in multiple areas of criminal justice, with a preference for those applicants with experience and interest in teaching in the areas of law and courts.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2027.
Job duties:
The successful applicant is expected to teach introductory and upper-division level courses within the Criminal Justice and Criminology curriculum on the Pullman campus and through the Global campus, which is dedicated to online education. The successful applicant may also potentially teach graduate seminars. The teaching load is four courses per semester (4/4), representing 80% of the position, with an additional 20% devoted to service.
The successful applicant will mentor students, develop and implement high-impact pedagogical practices, and conduct departmental and college service as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:- Ph.D. or J.D. ABD will be considered. PhD/ABD must be in criminal justice, criminology, or a related discipline.
- Degree must be earned by appointment start date.
- Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching legal and/or court related courses.
- Experience teaching online.
