Overview

Our client, a leading provider of power system protection, automation, and integration solutions, is seeking a Senior Engineer
- Substation Physical to lead the design and execution of complex substation projects, provide technical leadership and mentorship, and support customers throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of power systems experience, expert knowledge of substation physical design, a PE license, and a proven track record managing engineering projects, client relationships, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical expert in the design and application of substation physical engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers, specialists, and technicians.
  • Research, develop, and implement innovative engineering solutions, processes, and best practices.
  • Lead the development and review of project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure high-quality execution.
  • Manage engineering projects through the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through installation, commissioning, and operational support.
  • Create detailed substation physical designs, electrical layouts, bill of materials, and project estimates.
  • Support customers with engineering design, configuration, validation, testing, commissioning, and implementation of engineered solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients, utilities, consultants, and project stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Promote environmental, health, and safety initiatives while ensuring compliance with company safety standards and practices.
  • Lead technical training efforts and support the professional development of engineering team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience with electric power systems or equivalent utility, consulting, or engineering industry experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge in substation physical design and engineering principles.
  • Extensive experience designing electrical power substations, including equipment layouts, grading, drainage, foundations, and constructability considerations.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing complex engineering projects, budgets, schedules, and client deliverables.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical documentation skills.
