* Position Overview:

** The Surgical Scrub Technician is a vital member of the perioperative team, providing direct support to surgeons and maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures. This role ensures patient safety, supports efficient surgical workflow, and works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other surgical personnel. While prior scrub experience is preferred, we are willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety.
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*** Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all required instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and sterile.
* Scrub, gown, and glove appropriately, maintaining strict adherence to aseptic technique.
* Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
* Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies accurately and efficiently.
* Maintain organization and sterility of the surgical field throughout procedures.
* Perform surgical counts according to policy and assist in resolving discrepancies.
* Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation between cases.
* Handle specimens according to established protocols.
* Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards at all times.
* Participate in on-call rotation as required based on assigned shift.
** Training and Orientation
*** Initial training primarily occurs on the 0630–1500 shift.
* Training duration varies based on prior experience and demonstrated competency.
* Upon successful completion of training and demonstrated independence, technicians are eligible for permanent shift placement.
** Shift Options After Training**
* ** 0630–1500 shift**:
Includes participation in the call schedule.
* ** 0830–1700 shift**:
Very limited call responsibilities.
* ** 1030–1900 shift**:
Very limited call responsibilities.
* Shift assignment based on department needs and availability.

- Essential Functions:

* Required Skills:

*** Willingness to learn and successfully complete scrub training.
* Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program preferred but not required for trainees.
* Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
* Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to remain focused and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Basic computer skills, reading and writing.
* Ability to manage time and complete a task from start to finish.
** Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, &

Experience:

*** High School diploma or equivalent.
* Acceptable orientation and training to perform as a scrub technologist in the surgical suite and other clinical areas.
* Current BLS or within three months of hire.
* Previous OR Tech experience preferred
** Physical Requirements
*** Ability to stand for extended periods.
* Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies as required.
* Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform surgical scrub duties.
* Sitting:  10%.
Standing/Walking:  90%.
* Occasional lifting/carrying of equipment and patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Occasional pushing/pulling of equipment and beds weighing over 100 pounds.
* Occasional climbing of stairs to reach other levels of the building.
* Occasional stooping to administer medications and perform patient care functions.
* Occasional /kneeling/crouching/crawling to assist patient and perform patient care functions.
* Frequent reaching/handling/fingering/feeling to obtain supplies, write reports, and perform patient care functions.
* Constant talking /hearing/seeing for all aspects of patient care.
