Scientific Assistant-McLaughlin Lab
As a Scientific Assistant, you will play a key role in advancing research by identifying and defining research questions, developing hypotheses, and designing experimental methodologies. You will lead and manage specific phases of research projects, analyze and interpret data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings in publishable written formats and at scientific meetings.
Your primary research focus will be on addiction to drugs of abuse and its impact on society, with responsibility for helping to drive an addiction research agenda while also supporting additional laboratory projects as needed. The current project focuses on Endocannabinoid Modulation of the Habenular Stress Response. In this role, you will manage day-to-day research operations and take an active leadership role in training, mentoring, and supervising students in research techniques and laboratory procedures.

Position Term: 12 months, expected to end June 30, 2027. Renewal depends on need and funding.
Full time (100% FTE), overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 – $5,397.56, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biology or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible related research experience. Combination of education and experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Must be able to work occasional weekends, evenings or holidays.
- Demonstrated experience working with rodent colonies and vapor chambers.
